We recently had some Mainland relatives in town who needed a fix of crack seed—the loose kind you can buy by the pound. Didn’t know of too many places still around, except in Windward Mall. That was as good a reason as any to head out that direction….
When we got there, my sister and I noted a number of changes…The bookstore was gone (SOB!) and in it’s place was Sports Authority, where the public bathroom is now located.
Farrell’s came and went and in it’s place was a Japanese restaurant, Gyu-Kaku (need to try this place one of these days).
Kids had fun things to do for the summer, like a train ride (adults can, too!).
After the train passed, it was on to exploration, like Koolau Pets. We have always been pet lovers, and even though ours have passed on, one likes to look.
Up the ramp (if you look closely, you may see my shy sister on her scooter!)….
To Koolau Pets…
We were SO pleased that Koolau Pets had re-organized their store. In the past, it was very tight for someone in a wheelchair to maneuver around. NOW, she could go in instead of looking from the outside! What a pleasure that is for a wheelchair bound pet lover!
This is what we found…
Much more roomy aisles
And saving the best for last…
And what does this all add up to?…..
You can’t see my sister’s face, but she’s smiling, too!
Our overall evaluation of Koolau Pets…Very wheelchair accomodating.
One last comment….Thank you, Koolau Pets, for putting the patron first before profit. Too many times businesses clear ADA compliance, then stuff up and clutter their aisles, to the point where it is difficult, at best, for the wheelchair patron to move around. They are a valued customer, too and your re-arrangement of things made my sister very happy! Good job!
